Fairy's and Fast cars

The little guy lost his first tooth this weekend!! Tonight I finally got him to pose for a picture. These things must be documented! The Toof Fairy left him a dollar and a sword bubble thingy. Very excited he was. The first thing he did with it was open it in the den and spill half the blue bubble sticky stuff out on the carpet. (joy joy!)

Sunday we took off to the races. I don't know what the race was called, cause I don't pay attention to these things. I do know it was in Danville, VA at VIR, and I saw a bunch of guys from the Speed channel there talking in front of cameras, so it must of been a big deal...

At the race, the blue bubbly sword thing was put to good use - Until it was used as a baseball bat, and a soccer ball was used as the baseball - I guess you use what you have handy. Anyway, not long after mom said "be careful or your going to break that..." it broke. I shoulda kept my mouth shut.

He's planning on writing a letter to the Toof Fairy to ask for another one when his next 2 toofs come out. 2 - so he has a spare - in case he breaks another one. Thinking ahead...

Here's a pic of me and my hubby to be. He looks mad, but I think the sun is just in his eyes (and he hates - ABSOLUTELY hates getting his picture taken). My son took the picture and I was surprised he didn't cut our heads off!!

The race was fun. Before it started we got to walk around and see all the cars up close and personal. My son and I picked our favorite car purely based on the paint job. Black and Gold. My hubby to be picked his care purely based on the make. He's a ford man. The Ford didn't finish - towards the end of the race, we just never saw it again. Crashed - or engine trouble - it just vanished. We could only see about a 10th of the track. Our Black and Gold car came in like 15th out of 20. We'll do better next time....

My animal kids

It was Labor day weekend 2003, and I took off to my sisters house with my 2yr old son for the weekend. While we were gone, my x-husband was removing all of his belongings from my house, including "our" dog. I was only worried about the dog part. My son LOVES this dog, and going back home to a dogless house was tearing me up a little. I could frankly care less about the husbandless house. Was actually looking forward to that very much.

We get to my sisters, and find out they have rescued a kitten they found in their barn. The poor Mama cat, and another kitten had met up with some very evil cat monsters, and not survived the ordeal. So there was this wee little kitty, that was only a few weeks old, that needed a home. And there was my son and I, about to be petless. So of course we took her home. My son named her Rina. It took a long time for me to figure out where that name came from. His first "girlfriend" at daycare's name was Corrina. He called her Rina for short!

Here is a picture of Rina -- the cat not the girlfriend

(I have searched and searched for a wee picture of her, but I cant find one - bad mommy!)

Somehow having a cat in the house eased not having a dog in the house.

So for a few weeks, it was me, my son, and Rina, starting our new life. Then, my neighbor called. Asked me to come outside for a minute. Wanted to show me something. I took my son outside with me, and this is what we found....

Could anyone look at that face and not fall in love? No, I think not. (plus with a 2 yr old at your heals that LOVES dogs, saying no we can not have a dog was not an option)

My son named this pup Leo - "Leo the lion" he said. He doesn't look a thing like a lion, but okay.

My animal kids are now 3 years old, and live together in almost harmony. Rina is a true wild child. Shes a toe biter, but only my toes for some strange reason. She's also a killer mouse catcher, but I try not to be around when she does that. Leo was a complete pain in the arse the first year or two. I think he took over the role of "Man of the house." We moved last summer, and there is a new, much taller man of the house (my hubby to-be), and Leo is starting to learn his place. My only grievance is that he tends to get mad at my son from time to time and chew up a toy that might be left out unattended. But that sure teaches a boy to clean up after himself if he wants to save his toys from becoming dinner!

Here's a picture of my animal kids today. Yes, Rina is hiding, but yes, Leo knows shes there.

How do you spell Leuv?

When I woke up this morning, and rolled over, this is what I saw...

It's not my birthday, not mothers day, not any special day, just a rainy Saturday.

I got up and my 5 year old son was waiting, for I don't know how long, for me to come out of the bedroom to see what I thought of his sneakish ways.

He asked (after I covered him with kisses) : "Is that how you spell love mom?"

Me: "That's how were going to spell it today!"

Blogging for Vegas

So, in order to be "allowed" to go to Vegas, I must Blog. I've read the rules, but I need the requirements. Does 1 post count? Do I have to post 10 times? Is there some average per month - some quota that I must upkeep in order to be allowed to get on a plane and fly to Vegas? But I'm not supposed to talk about it.... yet I just have. Maybe I've already been black balled from the whole thing.
